Introduction
Hi, my name is Brian Do Kim. My family and I are from South Korea and we are a family of five. My mother and father currently lives in Orlando with my youngest brother, Josh (high school) and my older brother is currently working in New York as a quantitative researcher/portfolio manager at a hedge fund in the city. We first moved to Los Angeles when I was seven years old and since then have moved around and lived in different places around the country(just to name a few, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Manhattan, and a small city called Durham, North Carolina). Our family rarely gets together as a whole but we always try our best to see each other at least once a year during the holidays.
I am currently majoring in business administration and have a very strong interest in International business and business law. My father is in the tourism/travel business that also does translation/interpretations work for South Korean companies and through the help of my father I have been fortunate enough to have experienced the world of business/international markets firsthand. I first started working for my father as a Korean translator for international clients at conventions and that led to the chance to act as a U.S.-based sales representative facilitating business deals for products ranging from pet products and golf equipment to handmade clothes from Korea, culminating in hundreds of thousands of dollars in deals. Since then, somehow I have been given bigger assignments, selling in the complicated world of pharmaceuticals. I often was not only invited into meetings with CEOs of both buying/selling firms but became a crucial part of finalizing deals. Through this work, I realized what I really wanted to do going forward and most importantly it equipped me with invaluable knowledge of what it takes to succeed in business.
In the future, I would love to get into the import/export business and having a global business. However for now, I am trying to take advantage of all that UF has to offer. From commendable and respectable professors to being able to be surrounded by peers who share similar passion for learning. I want to take advantage of the full extent of UF's offering within the program and curriculum. I want to further expand my horizon and want to be challenged to look beyond the obvious observations
