1) A discussion of your general approach and strategy to search engine optimiation (SEO). What were some of the activities you did for each blog post to pursue SEO?
- When doing the blog posts, I didn’t think to expand out and strategize things out in regards to search engine optimization. I think if I did some more strategizing, I would have put more keywords on the title and on the labels to let my blog visible by more keywords.
2) What were your keywords? How did you select those keywords? Did you change or refine your keywords through the semester?
- Looking back at my assignment posts, I think I should of have cared more about keywords and words that would make my blog more visible. Week after week, I just did the minimum of just the blog title and the week it belonged to. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would definitely have modified and added more keywords to my blog posts.
3) How did you use social media to enhance your SEO efforts? What your surprises or general impression of using social media to improve your blog's profile? Was social media generally receptive of your blog, or did it get ignored?
- I think using social media to enhance SEO efforts could go a long way. I think having a platform like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram can really launch more receptions and views. Like mentioned above, I didn’t think to promote my blog on social media. However, I think if I did, I would have definitely had more improvements in my views.
4) What was your most "viral" post? In other words, which post obtained the most traffic? Why do you think?
- According to Blogger, the most “viral’ post was, “World’s biggest Problem” assignment that we had on Jan 20th. It had around 30 views and I think it is worth mentioning that the second most viewed was only 15. I think one of the reasons that it had such success in terms of traffic is because the keywords in that title. World, biggest, and problem are all things people search for regularly. I think I also noticed that the titles with longer keywords have more searches that shorter ones.
5) Finally, did you make it to the first page of Google results for your
keywords? If not, what page of results did you make it to? Yes. When I typed in Flatpeak elevator pitch on google search, the first thing on the page was the link to my elevator pitch. This was sort of surprising because I would think that it would not appear on google search.
Hi there Brian!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with this post! I can certainly agree that this assignment also made me reflect on the past and made me realize what I could have done differently. You can always use popular keywords to navigate traffic to your site. Moving on, I'm happy to hear you were on the first page of the search results for that term! That's already a good step, and it must have felt to see your content on that first page.

I also wasn’t very concerned with keywords above the minimum requirements because I didn’t really want this site detailing my idea’s development to be seen by too many people. I see how it could’ve been good practice though. It is cool you still showed up on google though! I couldn’t find my posts on google unless i used part of my url in the search.
