1.) Paul is my older brother and he is 27 years old. He
graduated from Duke University and is currently in New York, working at hedge
fund. He is a capital management/portfolio manager at his firm.
2.) For Paul, I would like to put him in the market expert and financial expert slots as he can greatly help with the financial aspect of my company.
3.) I was able to contact him through the phone and ask if he wanted to help me with my school assignment and he gladly said yes. He is always available to me so that is a huge plus.
4.) Every time I need to get something checked over or need help with something, I always go to Paul. Usually he has all the answers and the capital to make it happen. I think as return favors go, I think as long as my company does well and brings in a decent ROI and has growth potential, he is willing to help no problem.
5.) Having Paul in my networks is a huge plus that will greatly benefit me in my entrepreneurship journey. He knows a lot about finance and the market overall and I believe his strategies and experience can really put me over the top.

1.) I’ve known Andrea for a long time now and she is my sister in law. Currently she lives in NY with Paul and works at Bloomberg TV as an associate producer. Before that, she worked at FOX Business Network also as an associate producer. She graduated from UNC School of media and journalism is probably the brightest person I know.
2.) For Andrea, I would like to have her in the media, marketing, and media expert spots and believe she will be greatly beneficial to my marketing side of my business. She has the experience and the resume to put me over the top.
3.) I have an open line with both Paul and Andrea as they are only a phone/text away. We keep in constant contact over the years and they help with anything that I need help on.
4.) Same with Paul, I don’t think they expect much in return for their help/favor but as the same goes with my brother, as long as the idea is good and the company has potential, she is more than willing to help.
5.) Having Andrea in my network benefits me greatly. Her experience in her field of work at a place like NYC and having to deal with a lot of different people helps me a lot.

John Dong K.
Owner of a South Korean travel agency in Florida.
1.) John is my father. He started his own travel agency ten years ago and it is growing every day. He loves what he does and says he would never change a thing. I respect him in a lot of ways and his savviness in business/entrepreneurship is something I learn from him.
2.) For my father, I think I would let him handle all the day to day aspect of the company. Before he opened a travel agency, he used to work for a company and was in charge of hiring, managing and keeping everyday things up to task so I believe he is cut out for that kind of role.
3.) I keep in constant contact with my father. My father and I are very close and we rarely have disagreements on things. He currently lives in Miami and but visit Orlando frequently. If I wanted to see him, I can just drive down to S. Florida.
4.) I think the nature of exchange I would have with my father will be a simple one. Just succeeding and having a successful company would be enough of a return for him.
5.) Having my father would be a huge advantage because not many companies are able to communicate openly and freely. Secondly, I think his experience in handling day to day things and being knowledgeable in starting up a business will be a huge gain.
How will this experience shape how you participate in any future networking events? Did this experience differ from your networking experiences in the past? How?
I believe networking is a very important aspect of entrepreneurship. Different skills and talents are needed to have a successful business and you, yourself will never have ALL the skillset to finish a job. However, when you network, you can get help from your network that are experts from their field of work. I believe in my network, I was able to find people that are very bright and gifted in what they do and I was fortunate that they were family. This networking assignment was great and I look forward to more assignments like this in the future.
Hey Brian!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you have such successful people in your family that could help you with your business endeavors. Having family to help you certainly helps because communication is super easy. You are already comfortable and you can access them as you need to. There is no hassle of getting to know them or playing phone tag through different assistants. I hope everything goes well!
Overall, great job on this assignment. I'm glad it went well.

Hey there Brian!!
ReplyDeleteI found it very cool to have to have had successes in your family. I find it intriguing as well that you are such a go getter! I definitely think since there has been such success from the people around you, it has driven you to want to succeed. Within your network, I think having your family in it is going to help you succeed very much. My sister works in my dads office for him and I think his company has grown in many ways due to her working for him. It makes the business have better communication and trust. Those are definitely two of the most important things within a business and thriving within it! Thanks so much for sharing.
