Week 10 Reading Reflection

1) What was the biggest surprise for you in the reading? In other words, what did you read that stood out the most as different from your expectations?

This week’s reading assignment was mainly focused on accounting aspect/financial side of a business. This chapter was more of a refresher chapter for me since I took managerial/financial accounting not too long ago. It reminded me how much goes into preparing statements and how much I dreaded those two semesters I took accounting classes. The list of terms given by the author is long and it reminded me that I need to look over this subject again.

2) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you. And #3

I think if I had to pinpoint one part that was confusing to me, it would have to be the part about net present value method. The concept of recognizing that the dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future kind of confused me. In the next question, I would want to ask him why that is and an explanation.
3) If you were able to ask two questions to the author, what would you ask? Why?

Internal rate of return method is also something I think author should elaborate more on. It is confusing and I can’t seem to understand it.

4) Was there anything you think the author was wrong about? Where do you disagree with what she or he said? How?

Because the world of accounting is something I am not very interested in, I do not know if there was something the author was wrong about. I think he does a pretty great job explaining things in the last chapters so I doubt that he is wrong.
